Meet the founder: Jeannie Jones, MA, CWP
After a 30+ year career working for multinational companies, Jeannie founded Rudder Consulting so that she could continue her passion of helping individuals, teams and organizations achieve healthy high performance. She thoughtfully chose the name “Rudder” because, just as you can’t steer a boat without a rudder, you can’t effectively navigate life or your business without one either.
As an Independent Consultant and Performance Coach, Jeannie specializes in helping individuals, teams and organizations find theirs.
Jeannie’s credentials include the following:
- Certified Wellness Practitioner (via National Wellness Institute)
- Authorized Partner, Coaching On the Go
- Certified Mental Health First Aider (National Council for Mental Wellbeing)
- Certified Everything DiSC® Practitioner
- Certified Five Behaviors® Facilitator
- Certificate in Science of Happiness (Berkeley)
Prior to starting her LLC in 2022, she worked at GSK for seventeen years; during her tenure, she managed award winning wellness programs, led an Energy & Resilience CoE, represented GSK at the HERO think tank, presented outcomes at industry conferences, and served as judge for NBHG Best Employers for Healthy Lifestyles.

Jeannie also facilitated Energy for Performance® and Resilience workshops “in person” in seven countries and virtually across even more. She worked with businesses to adapt content and delivery so that it was culturally appropriate for intact, virtual, and matrixed teams.
She’s skilled at building relationships and collaborating with OD, Talent Management, Facilities, People Analytics, and the business to achieve win-win outcomes. In her last role, Jeannie was responsible for Global Quality and Assurance of employee health and wellbeing programs. She’s had a 360 view of employee health & wellbeing.
Prior to GSK, she worked at Michelin Tire Manufacturing in Sandy Springs, SC and then as a contractor at Nortel Networks managing their US wellness program and fitness centers five states. Each experience provided unique challenges and insights enabling her to relate to diverse audiences.
She earned a graduate degree in Exercise Physiology from East Carolina University where she was on the Women’s Cross Country and Tennis Teams. In the Human Performance Lab, she studied physical abilities and sports performance though she’s most recently more fascinated by the psychosocial aspects of performance.
As a native of Washington, NC, she enjoyed growing up in a small town and playing on the Pamlico River. She played three sports throughout high school (tennis, track, basketball) and now splits time between Cary, NC and Harkers Island, NC where saltwater fishing, kayaking, and boating help her recharge.
Most meaningful, Jeannie is a mother of two incredible young adults “who are each on their own amazing journey with their soulmates by their sides;” She loves the great outdoors, new challenges and adventures. Her core values are faith, family, friends, freedom, and health. These help her navigate daily life and big decisions adjusting her rudder as needed!
